PRO PLAN for Working Dogs
New Zealand Working Dogs
The relationship between shepherd and working dog is special, and it is integral to the fabric of rural New Zealand. Our heading dogs and huntaways are some of the hardest working dogs in the world, often running the equivalent of a marathon at key periods of the year. And they do it day in, day out.
Just like human athletes, our working dogs need a tailored diet that gives them all the nutrients they need to keep them in optimum physical condition. We are very proud that farmers and shepherds the length and breadth of the country trust PRO PLAN to keep their dogs fuelled for peak performance.
Meet our ambassadors
We are lucky to have Murray Child, Steve Kerr and Steph Tweed as our PRO PLAN ambassadors in the rural channel. Whilst primarily farmers, all three are also champion dog triallists, so they know a thing or two about New Zealand working dogs! As experts in their field, their guidance and opinion has been invaluable as we continually strive to provide high performance nutrition, and their advocacy means a lot to us.

Steph Tweed is our newest PRO PLAN ambassador. We were lucky enough to spend some time with Steph on her dad’s farm in Waitahuna and captured some of her thoughts on shepherding and what her dogs mean to her.
“Stock work should be a pleasure, not a chore”.
To help farmers and shepherds get the most out of their working dogs, we run a series of training days annually, hosted by Steve Kerr in the South Island and Murray Child in the North Island.
Alongside TUX, we are proud of our partnership with the New Zealand Sheep Dog Trial Association. In October this year, the first test match for over 2 years will be held between Australia and New Zealand in Tasmania and we wish the PRO PLAN Trans-Tasman Test Team the very best of luck.
